Rethinking Fitness

I have written about this before…I’ll say it again, we need to rethink standardized one size fits all fitness routines and encompass a much more holistic approach. We need more than just basic cardio + strength training in our routines.

By integrating more diverse elements into our fitness routines, we can nurture our physical, mental, and emotional well-being in a much more comprehensive way, leading to a more balanced and fulfilling life.

A quick and honest look.

Are you getting all of the following things from your fitness + workout routines:

  • Cardiovascular Exercise: to improve heart health and stamina - bike, rower, hit, running, swimming, hiking, dancing, etc.

  • Strength Training: to build muscle strength and endurance - kettlebells, free weights, resistance bands, etc, frc, kinstretch, etc.

  • Mobility + Flexibility Training: to enhance flexibility, joint mobility, balance, and posture - yoga, frc, kinstretch, etc.

  • Breathwork: to improve physical performance, but also improve mental and emotional well-being, deepening the mind-body connection, and leading to a more balanced and integrated approach to overall health - breathwork, meditation, sound baths, yoga, etc.

  • Nutrition: to fuel your body and aid in recovery - mindful eating, planning, goal setting, preparing for success, etc.

  • Rest and Recovery: to prevent burnout and aid in muscle recovery - sleeping enough each night, digital detoxing, etc.

By combining, or stacking these things together, you can start to achieve a much more holistic approach to your overall fitness routine and address your physical, mental, and emotional well-being all at the same time.
