Psst, have you heard the one about Earthing?

Alternately titled: She’s Being Weird in a Field, Again.

Yep, Earthing. It’s a whole thing.

Earthing, also referred to as grounding, is a practice aimed at establishing the connection between ourselves and the healing energies of the Earth. That’s pretty much the gist of it. No dogma. No belief system. Just measurable energy that is free for the taking and the healing. (And hey, its ok to thank your Big Mama E. while your out there ♥️)

The act of walking barefoot on grass, sand, soil, or rocks, as well as the simple act of touching a tree or placing our hands and/or whole bodies directly on the earth, allows us to absorb the Earth's subtle electrical energy. And yes, this is real shit. This “Earth Energy” is 100% scientifically measurable (you can see it in action in the earthing movie posted below).

The best part?

It’s available to you anytime, anywhere, for FREE!

Heres how:

  • Step one: go outside

  • Step two: take off your shoes

  • Step three: connect with the earth: walk around, sit in the grass, lay down and take a nappy nap. Whatever. \

True Story: when my kids are not feeling well, the first thing I tell them to do is:
GO OUTSIDE, SIT IN THE SUN, AND EAT A BANANA. AKA Earthing.

And you would probably be shocked at how often this actually works!!

And, Earthing works for injuries too.

Want to know how my knee healed so quickly?
Taking time to connect to the Earths energies every single day was a HUGE part of it.

And if you have seen me out in the field walking around barefoot before open mat on Fridays, this is what I am doing…Earthing.

Heres how it works:

1. Reduced Inflammation: Chronic inflammation lies at the root of many injuries. Earthing has been known to reduce inflammation by minimizing oxidative stress and neutralizing free radicals. As a result, it can help prevent and alleviate conditions such as tendinitis, sprains, and overuse injuries. Jiu jitsu people, take off your shoes and get your brokass bodies outside!

2. Enhanced Circulation and Recovery: Earthing has shown the potential to improve blood circulation and enhance the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to injured tissues. This can expedite the body's natural healing processes, promoting faster recovery times and reducing the risk of re-injury.

3. Balanced Nervous System: The Earth's energy, has a calming and stabilizing effect on the autonomic nervous system. By restoring balance to this intricate system, earthing can help alleviate stress, reduce muscle tension, and decrease the likelihood of stress-related injuries.

4. Improved Proprioception: Proprioception, our body's ability to sense its position in space, is crucial for preventing falls, sprains, and other musculoskeletal injuries. Earthing can enhance this sensory perception, leading to better balance, coordination, and body awareness.

5. Enhanced Bone Density: Bone health is a key factor in injury prevention, especially as we age. Research suggests that earthing may support the body's natural bone-building processes by reducing excess bone resorption.

And, hey! If you are still interested in learning more, there is a whole movie about it!
